The glue of this clothes moth trap contains a pheromone attractant. The pheromone attracts only males. These are retained by the glue on the trap. By catching the male clothes moths, the female ones cannot be fertilised. The pheromone lure is contained in the glue and is also odourless to humans.

A female clothes moth lays its eggs between hairs of, for example, insulation material, carpets, fur, feathers, skins and stuffed animals. It prefers natural textiles that are soiled and/or have perspiration stains. They only fly at night. They mainly attack woollen items. Only the larvae of the clothes moth cause damage. Infestation of textiles takes place only in dark and quiet places. Insulation material containing hair can cause a veritable moth infestation in office buildings. Stuffed animals can also be the cause of clothes moths.
